The Cavani Quartet

Founded in 1984, the Cavani String Quartet, named after the 19th century violin maker Vincenzo Cavani, has received worldwide critical acclaim as one of America's premier young string quartets.

Recognized for their extraordinary communicative gifts, superb precision, and exquisite blend of sound, the Cavani Quartet has won many prizes at international competitions, including the Naumberg Chamber Music Award. The quartet, which was cited among the "Young Artists of 1989" by Musical America, appears annually on major chamber music series and festivals in North America and Europe and has been featured on nationally syndicated radio and television broadcasts.

Known for the zest and vitality they bring to the performance of contemporary works and classical masterpieces, the quartet has commissioned, premiered, and recorded the music of a worldwide array of living composers.

In addition to having earned a reputation for inspiring and delighting audiences of all ages, the Cavani Quartet has been recognized for their unique talents in educational presentations and workshops around the United States.

Formerly in residence at the University of California, Riverside, the Cavani Quartet is currently faculty-quartet-in-residence at The Cleveland Institute of Music.
